Digital Marketing 101

What is digital marketing 101? Not many people know or can do digital marketing properly. I have learnt from the best practitioners who have become my mentors in my digital marketing journey. It’s been a great learning journey and honor to learn from the best, such as Brendon Burchard, Chalene Johnson, Frank Kern, as well as Bo Eason, Simon Coulson and Roger Love.

They are champions in their fields and using internet marketing. I have invested thousands and thousands of dollars in taking a look inside of their brains. Now I’m going to share with you what I’ve learnt from them.

It’s not enough to just know the technicalities and terms, but more importantly, you need to be strategic in everything you do as a company, or individuals, professionals and entrepreneurs. What do you do in each touch point that it will make an impact you wish you create with your campaign? What are the KPI’s?  Further, what experience are you aiming to provide for your clients, or audience? I’m going to teach you digital marketing 101 now, the basic things you need to know about digital marketing. A short crash course, you can also call it.
Let’s start.

What is digital marketing?

The business dictionary defines it as:
The promotion of products or brands via one or more forms of electronic media. For example, advertising mediums that might be used as part of the digital marketing strategy of a business could include promotional efforts made via the Internet, social media, mobile phones and electronic billboards, as well as via digital and television and radio channels.

So, practically doing marketing using any digital platform is part of digital marketing activity.

The importance of planning.

In the world of today where almost every aspect we do involves something digital, the scope and possibilities of using and doing digital marketing is endless. I mean truly, really, endless. If you’re not careful with planning ahead, you will most probably get lost in the ocean of possibilities and quickly get confused by your option.

Yes, it happened to me when I just started. I learnt from that mistake. It’s good to know your choices, but it’s better to plan ahead.

Key elements of digital marketing.

As mentioned earlier, the possibilities of digital marketing is endless. What are they key elements that a digital marketer needs to know and master?

First and foremost, basic traditional marketing applies. You have to have a target market. Market segmentation and positioning are also key elements in digital marketing. Then you need to have a budget. It helps if your budget is close to unlimited, as it will give you more tools and you can amplify your campaign even bigger. Needless to say, you need to have a goal of what you’re trying to achieve, in dollar amount, or other parameters, in having invested your budget.

Digital Marketing Campaign.

I hope you’re still with me so far. Once you have that sorted out, you can start building your campaign. A mix of social media ads, organic and paid search, content management, automation and affiliate all help in achieving your digital marketing goals.
